Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Tamasha call out for new short plays for scratch night
Description: Tamasha is accepting 15 minute plays or extracts for a scratch performance. Plays can be on any subject as long as they can be performed by no more than 4 actors. They plan on selecting four scripts for the event.
Given the nature of their work, they are particularly interested in submissions from BAMER writers. All applicants must demonstrate a proven and strong interest in culturally specific work. As a touring company, they are also particularly keen in ideas set with universal, non-London centric theme.
What’s so great about it? Tamasha is a well established new writing company that has been developing cutting edge theatre for 27 years; they are well known for their development of work from culturally diverse artists.
If you feel frustrated about what you currently see on stage and feel that some worlds and communities are underrepresented – this is your chance to create change! This is also a great opportunity to try out your work in front of a public audience as the four chosen writers will have their plays performed in front of a public audience, script-in-hand, at Rich Mix.
If you’ve got something to say and want to make contact with an exciting and diverse theatre company, you should give this one a go – you’ve got until 8 April to send them your scripts.
Please note, we’ve posted this for your convenience and we’re not affiliated with the organisers of the opportunity.
