See below for details of a Performance Platform Opportunity offered by Greenwich University. (Note: The original posting in the Arts Council Newsletter had listed an incorrect email, but the correct details are listed below.)
For: Early – mid career Theatre Makers, Writers, Producers
What: Do you have a new play or devised theatre piece that you would like to showcase in 2014? We can offer a ready made audience, an excellent 100 seat venue with technical support and 4 days of rehearsal space, in return for a free performance of your work.
Where: At the University of Greenwich drama building in Woolwich we have the comfortable and recently refurbished Bathway Theatre, which is used as a host for student and professional work. Recent platforms include Pattern Fight Theatre’s hilarious multi media piece Bad Wife, and Glen Wilson’s new one-man play The Tragedian Showcase about Ira Aldridge. So, diverse theatre forms are encouraged and we are looking to show around one professional piece a month, followed by a chaired Q and A if you wish. We also have a bar which can run if it is an evening performance. The theatre is fully equipped with lighting and sound.
Why: You are able to advertise and platform a new theatre piece, receive audience feedback, have free rehearsal space, invite potential sponsors and promoters to see your work. In exchange we continue to develop links with active theatre practitioners which feeds into the teaching and research interests of the Drama Department.
Contact: Expressions of interest can be sent to Jillian Wallis J.C.Wallis@greenwich.ac.uk . Please send me information on yourself or company and your planned performance and we can see if it is a possible fit.
