Write Across Liverpool is an eight-week development programme designed to offer writers and creatives at the start of their writing careers an insight into writing for television and support them in the creation of an original series idea.
This professional development programme is led by the BBC Writersroom in collaboration with partner organisations Liverpool Film Office, Everyman and Playhouse Theatres, Liverpool’s Royal Court, Unity Theatre, Writing on the Wall, 20 Stories High and DaDa.
Selected writers will take part in a range of craft and industry sessions designed to help grow their professional skills, cover the foundations of storytelling for the screen and demystify the process of writing for television. Writers will hear from industry guests such as screenwriters, producers and commissioners, as well as connecting and developing working relationships with peers amongst the group.
During the Write Across programme all participants will be supported to define and develop an original idea for a drama series to pitch stage. Writers will work collaboratively with support from the BBC Writersroom team, industry experts and with their peers in the group to develop this idea, receiving feedback and creative support along the way. It is hoped that the pitch could function as a creative springboard for the writer to develop further.
Up to 15 writers will be invited to take part in the programme which will run between May and June 2022 and will be primarily delivered over Zoom with some in-person sessions and workshops in Liverpool.
Details of how to apply for Write Across Liverpool will be available here from the opening date for submissions, Thursday 10th February from 8pm.
We plan to bring more Write Across groups to different cities and regions across the country throughout the year.
