This introduction to writing for radio, for beginners, draws on tutor Fin Kennedy’s experience as a writer of audio drama for BBC Radio 4, with reference to other innovative writing for the medium. The workshop will start with an introduction to the formats and commissioning process of current radio drama, move on to creative approaches to telling stories with sound, involve some textual analysis of some recent BBC Radio output including sound clips, and look at emerging radio forms such a short audio drama podcasts. Time to work on a treatment for a new radio play of one’s own will be included.
Fin Kennedy is an award-winning playwright, frequent writer for BBC Radio 4, Artistic Director of Tamasha, and visiting Lecturer at Central Saint Martins (MA Dramatic Writing).
Workshop fee: £60 (inc VAT) for the full day.

1) Your current CV if you have one, including any relevant experience (this does not have to specifically refer to your writing interests), or a short (max 500 words) statement of interest including your particular interest in this masterclass
