Down Stage Write are thrilled to be able to offer playwrights based in Devon and Cornwall the chance to apply for one of three fully funded writing residencies in partnership with the Charles Causley Trust.
These residencies will give you the opportunity to spend 3 days at Charles Causley’s house, Cyprus Well, in Launceston. You can use this time, away from distractions, to focus on your writing; finishing that first draft, whipping that final draft in to shape, even starting a brand-new piece from scratch.
This nationally recognised writing residency will be a great addition to the CV of aspiring playwrights. Previous residents include high profile novelists and TS Eliot Prize winning poets.
The residencies will run in September 2019, specific dates are detailed below.
Residency 1 – Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th, Friday 20th
Residency 2 – Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th
Residency 3 – Thursday 26th, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th
During your three days there will be a chance for dramaturgical support from Down Stage Write, including a 121 meeting/feedback session at Cyprus Well.
How to apply: if you would like to apply, please email downstagewrite1@gmail.com with a CV, a 10 page sample of your writing, and a cover letter explaining why you are applying for the residency, what you will use it for, and how you see it enhancing your professional development. Please also specify which residency dates you are available for.
