Opportunities – Pick of the Week: The Search for Blue seeking shorts for scratch night

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: The Search for Blue seeking shorts for scratch night

Description: The Search for Blue is hosting a special birthday celebration for our collective home, Earth, on April 22nd 2020, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, and our Big Blue’s (unofficial) 4.544* Billionth Birthday! They are looking for 8 artists or groups of artists that have a special birthday message for our Globe and which respond creatively to the theme of ‘earth and the climate crisis’.

What’s so great about it? We love opportunities with a theme as it’s a great chance to push yourself out of your comfort zone and write something a little different – and it won’t be hard to find a connection to this theme, since it’s about celebrating our planet (you do live on it, after all!). The Search for the Blue ran a successful festival last year and they are a wonderful bunch who are committed to creating vibrant new work, so it’s definitely worth submitting to this one if you want the chance to work with some brilliant creatives and explore and important theme. You have until 1 February to apply.
