The Show
The Cracked Slipper Company are producing 6 monologues exploring gender identity in Herefordshire, aiming to reduce inequality and bridge gaps within the community.
A team of writers will create a diverse set of plays, based upon true stories from across the county. The live performances will take place in a Herefordshire venue. The pieces will then be filmed and placed online to ensure the project reaches as wide an audience as possible. The project will also involve awareness-raising workshops within the community, ensuring the project has a lasting, meaningful impact.
The Plays
The performances will be based upon local research and interviews with local residents. Cracked Slipper want to represent a variety of voices and ensure a range of racial, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds are represented. Each monologue will be no more than 15 minutes in length and will be performed by local actors.
The Writers
The plays will be written by six local writers, who will be mentored throughout the script-writing process by Ant Stones (Former Writing Tutor with Pentabus and Associate Playwright for Guildford Shakespeare Company). The group will be supported through online group sessions and one-to-one feedback, taking the plays through the draft process, culminating in the final performances and films.
How to Take Part
Cracked Slipper are looking for local writers who will benefit from the dramaturgical process and are keen to share diverse, local stories. They encourage people from all sections of our community to apply, as we would like our team to reflect the stories we tell. Cracked Slipper can offer £500 for each writer’s expenses, plus a small contribution towards any travel required.

We give everyone a voice and empower people to highlight issues that are important to them. We support marginalised groups and tackle inequality through drama and performance.
