First Steps with Conor Patrick Carroll – A New Works Playhouse Writing Workshop

This workshop is built around a series of exercises designed to tease out the larger narratives and emerging characters from your initial story ideas. You will be asked to enter the workshop with an open mind and willingness to expand on some stories or themes that you are eager to evolve into a more coherent and tangible script.

The workshop will utilise tangible examples of well-known stories to contextualise and enhance your understanding of how stories are generated and what could make your idea more robust. The aim by the end of the workshop is for those who take part to gain the confidence and knowledge to tackle a new script and to understand why their story needs to be told. There will be plenty of opportunities to share your findings during the workshop and discussion about the topics will be encouraged.

The workshop will be run by CONOR PATRICK CARROLL. A playwright, screenwriter, and graduate of the MA in Writing for Stage and Broadcast Media from the Royal
Central School of Speech and Drama. He is an alumnus of the Soho Writer’s Lab and his play Haste Ye Back was shortlisted for the ETPEP Award in 2019.
