Freedom Studios seeking BBC Performing Arts Fellow

As part of the BBC Performing Arts Fellowship, Freedom Studios is seeking an individual who has shown dedication towards a career in theatre and who demonstrates potential but who needs support and guidance to take the next step towards a professional career as either a Producer, Director or Writer. Freedom Studios is an intercultural theatre company based in Bradford. We create original, high quality theatre in non-traditional spaces, and tell stories that connect different people and communities.

The fellowship will provide the following:

  • A tailor-made programme to develop your skills
  • Guidance and mentoring provided by experienced staff
  • An award of up to £10,000.
  • A wide range of experience on a selection of projects

The fellowship will take place between January and December 2015 through an agreed flexible programme.

Please note that this fellowship is subject to Freedom Studios being chosen as a host organisation (confirmation to be received in November). The Fellowship is not a salary but provides funding to cover time and resources needed to develop a talented individual.

How to apply:  If you are interested in this opportunity, please email Prakash Patel at prakash@freedomstudios.co.uk with a CV and covering letter detailing why you are suitable for this opportunity and how it will benefit you in your career (2 sides of A4 maximum).  If you have any queries please contact Prakash or Deborah on 01274 730077.

If selected, you must be available for an interview on either Monday 21st July 2014 or Tuesday 22nd July 2014.

Please note that as detailed in the BBC’s guidelines, if you have previously worked for Freedom Studios in any paid capacity, you are not eligible to apply. For more information on the Fellowship, see http://www.bbc.co.uk/performingartsfund/grants/paf-fellowship.

Individuals from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds are actively encouraged to apply for this training opportunity as it is widely recognised that there is a lack of diversity in the sector.

Deadline:  Monday 14th July 2014 at 5pm
