West Avenue seeking short scripts for Briefs new writing night

Following the sell-out success of Briefs‘ first foray to Waterloo East Theatre, they are now accepting submissions for the next edition of the quarterly new writing night will be back at the same venue in the New Year.

The Winter 2015 show will take place on  January 7 2015; with submissions open for writers to send in scripts until November 26 (both dates are Wednesdays).

Briefs launched in July 2013 at the Rosemary Branch and has taken place every three months since. After five packed shows at the Islington venue, increased demand for tickets resulted in a move south of the river to Waterloo East Theatre; where the Autumn 2014 show sold out on advance pre-sales alone. The Winter 2015 edition will be Briefs’ seventh outing, and second at WET.

What to submit:  Pieces can be anything from 5 to 15 minutes in length, with 10 minutes being the ideal ballpark. Standalone shorts and extracts from longer pieces you may be working on are both fine, but please be aware that they will be working with very basic scratch-night-style set and casting will ultimately be sorted by West Avenue . Should you want to direct or act in your own piece, that’s fine – just say so in your initial e-mail.

How to apply:  Please send scripts to shaun@west-avenue.co.uk by November 26. If you don’t receive a reply within a few days, try shaundavidkitchener@gmail.com.

Deadline: 26 November 2014
