With over 350 hours of in-house output a year, BBC Drama Production is making some of the most original, diverse and highly acclaimed television. These range from continuing drama such as Holby City, Casualty, EastEnders and Doctors, to series and serials such as Silent Witness, Luther and Our Girl to name just a few. Holby City is BBC1’s BAFTA award winning Medical Drama Series transmitted on BBC One every Tuesday, with an average audience of 6 million viewers a week.
As Story Editor, Holby City, you will support the Executive Producer, Series Producer and Story Producer to deliver high quality, cost-effective drama, working with some of the UK’s best writers to generate compelling storylines. You will actively contribute at all story conferences and storylining sessions and will solve story problems that may arise at script stage, working closely with Script Editors to ensure character/story continuity. You will also deputise for the Story Producer in their absence, leading the writing and Story team as required.
Candidates: With extensive experience of drama script or story editing on a long running drama you will be able to create, develop and write story ideas and storylines in line with the continuity of the series, working closely with the Story Producer, Story Researcher and a large team of writers to achieve the show’s ambitious aims. A demonstrable interest in, passion for and understanding of the continuing drama genre, and especially Holby City is essential.
