The Bread & Roses Playwright Circle will take place the last Monday of every month.
The Bread & Roses Theatre Company has been developing and supporting new writers since 2012; and since the launch of the theatre in November 2014 the venue has also established itself as a popular place for quality new writing, amongst both playwrights as well as audiences.
The newly launched in-house Playwrights Circle is an opportunity to share up to 10 minutes of a new play, this can be a short play in its entirety or an extract from a longer piece. The focus lies on the circle sharing their work and providing supportive and constructive feedback for one another.
Furthermore, it is also an opportunity to introduce your work to the Bread & Roses Theatre’s team. They will amongst others be looking out for new short plays for future instalments of our scratch night The Platform, and also welcome those wanting to put forward proposals for their programming to bring along excerpts of their plays.
How it works: The evening will run from 7.30pm to about 9pm, including a break. Doors open from 7.15pm at which point people can also register for a guaranteed slot later in the night. They will do their best to fit everyone in. If you want your play or excerpt to be read on the night please also remember to bring several copies (depending on how many characters there are).
Directors, actors, producers and other creatives interested in discovering new plays and the theatre are also more than welcome to come along!
Deadline: None – monthly event

This is a brilliant initiative to give emerging playwrights to see their work performed in front of an understanding.
Although based in Norfolk I will endeavour to attend one of the last Monday sessions.
