The Marlowe Theatre Canterbury seeking Literary Associate

The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury is looking for a new literary associate to help extend, enrich and diversify its programme of new writing activity.

They are interested in candidates who can provide support for our programme with writers and script development. Specific duties will be agreed with the successful candidate but previously these have included teaching their thriving writing groups on a regular basis and providing literary support to the script development of our annual large-scale community production. All activities will be ratified in agreement with the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.

The Literary Associate will also play a pivotal role in the selection and development of scripts as part of the Roar! programme. Roar! is a programme that supports writers in developing new plays for the stage and which this year will see two productions created and presented in The Marlowe Studio. The programme aims that at least one piece transfers to a leading London venue.

The yearly stipend for this position is £8000-10000, to be mutually agreed upon discussion of the scope of the role. There would also be opportunities for additional activities outside of the principal role, which would be agreed under separate arrangements.

They will be looking to continue the post for up to three years.

If you think you can bring commitment and fresh and original ideas to help us develop our new writing programme, then we would like to hear from you.

To apply, please submit a letter of application detailing how you can help us grow and develop our literary programme and make an impact on the professional and participatory work that we produce. Please also provide a CV detailing similar past activity that you have been involved in, along with examples of your written work.

We are interested in hearing from writers who can be bold and challenging and offer fresh perspectives and new pathways to discovering talent.
