The Screen Arts Institute, in Assocation with the BFI, is recruiting filmmakers for their Professional Story Development & Marketing Scheme. The programme starts in February 2017 and runs through to April 2018. They will help you develop/further develop a feature or major TV project, package it, and market it to financiers and industry.
They work with the best on both sides of the Altantic and pitch your projects direct to the likes of; Warner Bros, NBCUniversal, FilmFour, Working Title Films, HBO, the BBC, ITV Studios etc
“Recent members of our institute have sold and made their projects to and with; Universal, Curzon/Artificial Eye, the Weinstein Company, the BBC, Channel 4, Fox Searchlight and so on.
We are looking for savvy, talented filmmakers (writers, directors, producers) who have a feature film or major TV project to develop. Our places are limited to around 20 and we will routinely receive over 200 good applications for those places.”

Applicants must email the materials listed below to stephen.may@thescreenartsinstitute.com:
1. Please email a logline and one-page pitch of the major project that you think you’d like to develop while on our programme. (600 words max. Use Courier 12pt)
2. An example of your screenwriting (any length but it must be a piece of fiction). And, If you are a director/producer – an example of a completed film/TV project (vimeo link or similar).
3. An analysis of a scene from a film that you have found particularly powerful, with an emphasis on analyzing how the film-makers have achieved this power. At the same time, they would like you to offer suggestions on how, perhaps, the scene could be improved. (400 words max.)
4. A CV of your educational background and all relevant professional experience.
Short-listed applicants will be invited to attend a half-day workshop/assessment process. There is a £50 fee for the workshops, but this is redeemable against the offer of a bursary or if a filmmaker takes up a place offered.
