MAT and Purbanat Theatre companies are looking for a playwright to work as co-writer on a new play, loosely based on The Interpreter of Desires by Ibn Arabi, and Dante’s Divine Comedy.
The play will be a collaboration with the playwright David Calcutt. The two writers will participate in six days of script development workshops with a director and a group of actors, to try out ideas for the play. The workshops will be spread over several months from November 2016 to June 2107.
Knowledge of Sufism and Sufi myths is desirable. Midlands base an advantage. The deadline for completion of the script is July 2017.
As the playwriting duties will be shared, the fee is based on current ITC/Writer’s Guild rates for a one-act play (£5,660).
To apply, please send a current CV, and a description of what you feel you can bring to the project.
