Opportunities – Pick of the Week: VAULT Festival 2018 open for applications

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: VAULT Festival 2018 open for applications

Description: VAULT Festival is now open to applications for the 2018 Festival. They are looking for daring, innovative and engaging work to present to audiences between January and March 2018. This year there are three strands to which you can apply: Theatre & Performance, Comedy Festival and LATES. Their application guide covers the first two strands; if you wish to apply to the LATES programme, please read the separate LATES guidelines document. (All guidelines can be found here.)

What’s so great about it? Unlike many other creative opportunities, VAULT Festival offers a platform to creative voices from a huge variety of disciplines and backgrounds, bringing them together to create one of the more colourful festivals of the year. In 2017 they had over 50,000 visitors, and put on everything from cabaret to comedy.

They are looking for work that is bold and innovative, and for performers that aren’t afraid of experimentation, as well as those who stick to more traditional methods. With one of the most diverse showcases in the London arts scene, VAULT Festival makes it so that anyone can apply to take part, with little restriction or limitation. So, if you’ve found that your work hasn’t quite found its home, or you’re a performer with an underrepresented act, VAULT Festival might just be the one for you.

The festival runs for over two months, meaning multiple applicants will be within a chance of having their work picked, and you’ve got until the 31 August 2017 to apply!
