Applications are now open for Stage Writing for Commission — a fully funded training programme for emerging playwrights, delivered by The Writers’ Block in partnership with The Minack Theatre.
We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this opportunity across your networks, communities and platforms to help us reach aspiring playwrights who may benefit from this mentorship.
Taking place across four workshop days in July 2026, this exciting programme offers writers the opportunity to develop skills in writing for theatre under the guidance of dramaturge, writer and lecturer Jane Pugh.
The programme will culminate in selected writers being commissioned by The Minack Theatre to create original short plays for their Play in a Day programme in Autumn 2026. Successful participants will have their work professionally developed, directed and performed by the Minack Acting Academy in front of a live audience at one of the UK’s most iconic theatres.
We are currently seeking applications from emerging writers of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those based in the South West or with a strong connection to Cornwall.
