Blowin’ A Hooley Theatre is accepting script submissions from North East writers…

‘Haddaway & Write’ is a new talent development scheme from Blowin’ A Hooley Theatre, in partnership with The Exchange Theatre. Funded by Arts Council England, the project will support up to 6 writers to develop short plays, with dramaturgical support from award-winning writer Sarah Tarbit. The selected writers will receive career support and have their work professionally performed, with potential for scripts to be selected for future touring.

The company is accepting submissions from North East writers at all levels of experience who will benefit from script development support and career mentoring.

Selected writers will receive £500 to take part in this opportunity.

Applicants must be:

  • Based in the North East of England
  • Aged 16+
  • Available 12th September and one date 13th-15th September

Script submissions must:

  • Be 10-15 pages
  • Be a new, original play for stage that has not been produced
  • Have a maximum of 2 characters
  • Respond to the theme of ‘belonging’ – this can be interpreted as broadly and creatively as you like!

Deadline: 12pm Wednesday 24th August 2022
