Canal Cafe Theatre: Devising and Writing Original Theatre – masterclass with Russell Lucas

APRIL 2nd and 3rd

A weekend masterclass with theatre maker Russell Lucas.

This two day workshop will focus on taking your theatrical idea and show you how to bring it to life.
The first stages of an original show are always the most exciting and the most daunting. Join theatre maker Russell Lucas for a no-frills, whistle stop tour on how to get things moving once you have decided what your next show is going to be. After a very stagnant period for us all, it’s time to get the engines warmed up once more and “Devising and Writing Original Theatre” will interrogate your idea using devising, improvisation, dramaturgical study and finally, finding the direction and claiming the next step of your show.
The weekend will also include producing with a special hour-long guest slot by AD Emma Taylor. So, if you’re considering Edinburgh, VAULT or just want to begin something immediately, this is for you.
Russell will work with you to open out your practice enabling you to have an honest conversation with your future plans.
Delegates should come with a germ of an idea. It’s a cerebral and physical weekend. Bring paper and pens.
