Critical Mass at the Coventry Belgrade Theatre open for submissions (BAMER writers)

Critical Mass is a free playwriting programme run at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry for writers aged 18+ from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee backgrounds. It’s run in partnership with Euphoric Ink and in association with Tamasha Theatre Company.

Previous participants have gone on to have their plays workshopped or performed as rehearsed readings and beyond, including Red Snapper by Liz Mytton, which became a full stage production at the Belgrade Theatre in Spring 2016. There are a limited number of places available, which will be allocated to the writers who submit the best work. The programme will run from September to December 2018 for one evening a week.

How to apply: please submit up to 10 pages of writing intended for performance. This may be an extract from something already written or something completely new. If you are stuck, there is a writing exercise on the left hand side of the scheme’s webpage to give you some ideas. Please also download and complete the Submission Information Form, available on the same webpage.

Applications should be emailed along with your name and telephone number to Communityadmin@belgrade.co.uk with the subject line ‘Critical Mass Submission – FAO C&E’. Alternatively, you can apply by handing in two hard copies of your submission at the theatre box office or by posting them to:

Critical Mass Submission – FAO C&E, Belgrade Theatre , Belgrade Square, Coventry, CV1 1GS

For any more information, email Charles Ingram at Communityadmin@belgrade.co.uk or call 024 7684 6741. They look forward to hearing from you!
