Opportunities – Pick of the Week: Pint-Sized call out for shorts and extracts

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Pint-Sized call out for shorts and extracts

Description: Pint-Sized is looking for submissions for their first week-long festival at The Bunker Theatre, London in October 2018. Each Pint-Sized showcases 5 pieces of new writing from the best in emerging talent, wrapped up with a live band playing tailor-made tracks written about the pieces involved, all with a sold-out audience and discounts at the bar. This will be the first of their annual week-long festivals, with high-profile events and speakers during the day, and five brilliant pieces of writing performed every night!

What’s so great about it? Pint-Sized already has a brilliant track record for producing successful events, but what we really love is their commitment to supporting emerging writers.

The chosen writers for this one won’t ‘just’ get their work performed at The Bunker Theatre in front of industry professionals (regular attendees include Royal Court, Young Vic, Bush, Soho, Curtis Brown and Casarotto), they’ll also get feedback from a mentor (by the way, previous mentors have included: Timberlake Wertenbaker, Simon Stephen, James Graham, Roy Williams, Polly Stenham, Alice Birch, Tim Crouch, April De Angelis).

To add to this, all longlisted writers and all writers who identify as artists of colour, working class, LGBTQIA*, D/deaf, disabled, or learning disabled/neurodivergent will be given feedback from Pint-Sized on their work.

They are looking for 10-15 extracts or shorts on any theme and you’ve got until 1 July to apply!
