Exeter Northcott: Elevate Writers | Annual Script Window

ELEVATE: WRITERS – ANNUAL SCRIPT WINDOW NOW OPEN

As part of Exeter Northcott’s Elevate programme, they are announcing a new annual script window in which South West writers can submit plays and pieces of performance writing to be read by the Northcott’s artistic team.

This is an opportunity for writers to introduce themselves to the theatre, and selected writers will receive feedback, meet with the Northcott’s team and gain access to a series of development opportunities tailored to their needs. One writer will also be offered a seed commission to adapt a well-known title. Writers will be notified whether they have been selected for further development opportunities or not.

To submit, please read the submission requirements below, and visit the link to complete the online submission form and upload a copy of your script.

Submission Requirements:

  • Writers must be originally from, or currently based in, the South West
  • Any level of experience is acceptable – this can be your first play, or your hundredth
  • The theatre can only accept one submission per writer
  • Scripts must include page numbers, and the writer’s name and contact details
  • Scripts must be full-length plays, which usually equates to a minimum of 9000 words or 50 plus pages
  • Scripts may be formatted in any way, as long as they are clear and the writer’s intention is understandable on the page, the theatre will read it
  • The theatre will only accept Word or PDF files
  • The theatre only accept original works that have not been published or produced; they do accept scripts that have received other support, including rehearsed readings
  • The theatre only accept scripts for the stage, and will not accept scripts for any other medium
