Film London‘s annual short film scheme, London Calling is now open for applications.
Selected filmmakers will receive a comprehensive package of production funding, support and expert mentoring, with the chance to have their film screened at the BFI London Film Festival and win juried industry prizes. Previous London Calling alumni have gone on to screen their short films at world-renowned festivals including Berlin, Sundance and Tribeca, as well as earning BAFTA nomination, a Berlin Crystal Bear and BIFA award.
At least 20 short films will be commissioned through the short film scheme in 2017, either via the main Film London scheme, London Calling Plus or schemes for specific London boroughs. London Calling has 16 awards of up to £4,000 for emerging London filmmakers,
Supporting BAME talent
Four films will be commissioned through Film London’s London Calling Plus strand, offering awards of up to £15,000 for BAME filmmakers with a track record in film, TV, radio or theatre. In addition at least three of this year’s London Calling awards are specifically designated for projects from new writers and directors from black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds.
The scheme culminates in the London Calling Showcase and Awards at BFI Southbank
