Can Playwrights Cross Borders Others Can’t? (New Writing Platform)
Tuesday 09 Dec 2014 from 18:30 to 20:00
This event will be run by dramaturg and writer Caroline Jester, who has developed international playwriting projects in Germany, Poland, Croatia, Italy and the US including Europa (Methuen) and has been Literary Manager and Dramaturg at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
Caroline has been working with students on the MA Dramatic Writing course at Central Saint Martins and with writers at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb Croatia on a pilot project exploring international digital playwriting collaborations.
Caroline will share the results of the pilot alongside an In Conversation event with writer Tena Štivičić, whose play 3 Winters is currently on at the National Theatre. Students from the MA Dramatic Writing course will facilitate a discussion on whether playwrights should collaborate beyond their national border and how language barriers can be explored dramatically.
The New Writing Platform series is an occasional series of talks and events run in partnership with the dramatic writing industry, providing a platform to share and explore new ideas going on in the dramatic writing industry.
