Funding opportunity: Amplified – Screenwriting and Playwriting Competitions

Calling for comedy scripts from Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority Writers in the UK!

Transition Stage Company is excited to announce Amplified, a comedy script competition specifically for black, Asian, and ethnic minority writers in the UK. We are seeking 10-minute comedy scripts featuring 2-3 characters that showcase your talent and unique perspective. This is your chance to shine!

Here’s what you need to know:

Submission Details: Submit your comedy script for a chance to win the £1000 award and other exciting prizes. Scripts will receive valuable feedback from our expert team.

Masterclass Challenges: Even if you’re not a UK citizen, you can still participate in our Masterclass Challenges and receive feedback. Sign up for the Masterclass and join our mailing list to stay updated.

Same format as Enter.Stage.Write: Amplified follows the same format as our renowned Enter.Stage.Write competition. Your script will be performed by established actors and judged by esteemed professionals from film, TV, and theatre. This could be your opportunity to have your work commissioned.

Research and Development Opportunities: Selected scripts may also have the chance to undergo Transition Stage Company’s Research and Development programs.

Previous Judges: Our judging panel includes respected industry professionals such as Sarah Asante (Commissioning Editor at UKTV), Darcia Martin (Director for BBC and Channel 4 TV shows), Chris Sudworth (Director of Artistic Programme at Birmingham Hippodrome), Anya Camilleri (award-winning Writer and Director), and Martin Sketchley (West Midlands’ representative for the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain).

Amplified is open to British citizens, residents, or students who are Black, Asian, or from other ethnic minorities. What is the prize?

The prize at the moment is 1000 pounds, your work produced, and your script showcased and performed by professional actors, in front of an industry panel. 3-hour P.R consultancy and mentorship package from Transition Stage Company. A year-long nurturing and support with your writing career. Social media strategy support. The prizes can change, meaning more prizes may be added on during the duration of the competition.

Can I even enter if I am under 18?

Any age can enter, but if you are under 16, a parent or guardian must enter for you.
