Funny Women knows that not every writer is a performer, so the Funny Women Comedy Writing Award gives those happier behind the scenes the opportunity to truly shine.
Entry Criteria: A 1-2 page treatment and 3 sample scene of a comedy script for television. The script can take the form of a sitcom, sketch show or comedy drama. The entrants cannot be professional script writers.
The closing date for submissions is Monday 10th August 2015.
Prizes: For the single winner, the prize is as follows:
- £500 script option and mentoring from Comedy Unit (the makers of several TV comedies e.g. Badults, Rab C. Nesbitt).
- Including 3 weeks intensive mentoring to complete the 30 minute script with dedicated access to a professional script editor
- £250 of Benefit cosmetics goodies
How to submit your entry:
• Please send a 1-2 page treatment and 3 sample scenes from your script to awards2015@funnywomen.com, with ‘Comedy Writing Award Entry’ in the subject bar. As writing styles can differ they have not set an exact word limit for this. However, you should be aiming for approx. 2-4 pages per scene
• Please ensure that your name, email address and phone number are included on the document
• Ensure your script is formatted properly. There is a wealth of excellent (and free!) script writing software available online
• Save your script in PDF (preferred) or word format
