Hijabi Monologues seeking true stories for performance at Bush Theatre (Muslim women writers)

Hijabi Monlogues is seeking Muslim women with a story to tell.

Hijabi Monologues London will culminate in a theatrical production at the Bush Theatre focusing on the real-life experiences of both local and international Muslim women, weaving stories from our doorstep with the experiences of Muslim women in other parts of the world.

Hijabi Monologues London is part of an international theatre project which encourages and provides a safe space for Muslim women to creatively communicate their diverse experiences in their own words – unfiltered and uncensored.

All submissions will be read and considered by a panel of theatre professionals from the Bush Theatre, Hijabi Monologues, the British Council and Amal – A Said Foundation Project.

There will be Drop-In advice sessions available at the Bush Theatre on 13 June 2017 from 10am-7pm if you are interested in applying.

Eligibility:  You don’t need to be a professional writer to take part. They welcome submissions from any Muslim woman.

The winning monologues will be performed at the Bush Theatre in the week of 25 September 2017 as part of a theatrical event that will also feature monologues from the Hijabi Monologues story bank written by Creative Director and Head Writer Sahar Ullah and by women from across Europe and the world.
