Challenging Traditional Approaches to Playwriting

A must attend event for writers interested in European theatre, German new writing or form challenging new work.
Led by outstanding German playwright Maria Milisavljevic, this workshop will explore how playwrights can challenge and re-interpret traditional approaches to narrative and form. The workshop will also offer an insight into Maria’s process of re-drafting her award winning play Abyss for three theatrical cultures, in two different languages.
Maria Milisavljevic: Maria is one of the most exciting German playwrights of her generation. After winning the prestigious Kleist Award for Young Dramatists in 2013 for her play Abyss she has gone on to translate the play into English for new productions at the Tarragon Theatre Toronto and for InSite Performance at the Arcola Theatre London. She currently lives in Canada where she is playwright in residence at the Tarragon Theatre Toronto.
