London Playwrights – Literary Intern (paid)

We’re looking for a Literary Intern to join our team and help us to continue and grow in our work to support emerging playwrights. If you’d love to get hands on experience in a Literary setting, enjoy reading scripts and offering critical feedback, and are passionate about connecting writers with opportunities – then this is for you!

The Literary Intern will provide support for our rolling members’ submission window. The role will involve keeping track of scripts, providing administrative support, and communicating with our team of script readers and writers. In addition to this, there will be an opportunity to get involved with reading scripts. Other duties will include sourcing and posting opportunities and supporting us with other admin, and helping us to create new resources as required.

Hours:  The internship is for 4 hours per week for commitment initially of 6 months. These hours can be worked around your own commitments and to suit your schedule. All work will be completed remotely.

Skills and experience required: we want someone who is passionate about new writing and wants to gain valuable experience in a Literary setting. You might be an emerging playwright or dramaturg.  The role will require basic use of Excel and using WordPress (training will be given on this). We’re looking for someone who is well organised, can work independently, and is highly motivated.

Duration of internship: to support the consistency of the role in our submission window, we are asking for candidates to be able commit to 6 months.

Pay: the role is paid at £11.50 per hour, for 4 hours per week. This is a freelance role. The Literary Intern will also be welcome to use London Playwrights’ resources including workshops, script consulting, and member benefits.
