Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Nick Darke Writers’ Award 2016
Description: The Nick Darke Award, managed by Falmouth University, commemorates the life of playwright Nick Darke with a £6,000 prize.
So, what’s so great about it? This competition was on hiatus last year, but has returned with full force. In the past, the award was for pieces with environmental themes, but this year there is no restriction in content, so all plays of around an hour in length are eligible. (But be sure to read the new submission guidelines carefully!) This year’s submission category is stage play, so get your entries polished up by 30 May if you want to send your script in.
