Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: Orange Tree Theatre Writers Collective
Description: The Writers Collective at the Orange Tree Theatre combines a mixture of masterclasses and group feedback sessions to support emerging writers in developing their work. The scheme is open to writers who have had at least one play professionally produced.
What’s so great about it? Writing can be a lonely business, and getting to work with peers and mentors who will help push your craft further is a priceless opportunity. This development scheme is completely free for participants, and a brilliant opportunity to expand your network. This is also a really exciting time to get involved at The Orange Tree, whose reinvigorated commitment to new writing has resulted in success like Alistair McDowell’s Pomona, which transferred to the National Theatre. Applications are due on 5 September, so get your play pitch ready!
