Opportunities: Our Pick of the Week – University Women in the Arts Mentorships

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: University Women in the Arts Mentorships

Description: This opportunity is open to female university students across the UK, and will provide a year of mentorship with women who are leading the way in the arts.

So, what’s so great about it?  Given that yesterday was International Women’s Day, this seemed like the perfect choice for our Pick of the Week.  It’s a sad fact that women are still underrepresented in arts leadership positions, and this programme is directly targeted to make things more equal. The list of mentors is unbelievably impressive, and a fantastic opportunity for a young writer with big ambitions just starting her career.  But if you’re not eligible for this opportunity (not being in education or not a woman) fret not – they’ll be running a fantastic programme of activities across the year that are open to all.
