Opportunities: Our Pick of the Week – Etch seeking submissions for Scratch Night #6 at the Peckham Pelican

Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.

This week’s pick: Etch seeking submissions for Scratch Night #6 at the Peckham Pelican

Description: Etch is a new writing space which aims to discover, nurture and support new writing in theatre whilst encouraging collaboration amongst emerging artists. At the moment, they’re accepting submissions for their monthly scratch night at the Peckham Pelican and they are looking for 5-15 minute scripts that the writer considers to still be in development.

So, what’s so great about it? Well, firstly, winners get their work performed in London, a professional director to work with and help with casting. The event has been running for a while and they say it consistently attracts audiences of over 150 – in the past this has included creative staff from the RSC, Royal Court and The Young Vic. We think it sounds like a great way to get your work out there and make some new contacts at the same time. They’re only looking for 5-15 minute pieces of work that is still in development so we reckon you’ve got just enough time to pull something together before the deadline on 17 April.

Please note, we’ve posted this for your convenience and we’re not affiliated with the organisers of the opportunity in any way.

We’re trying something new to make the site easier to browse, let us know if you like Pick of the Week and we might make it a full time thing.
