Each week we look through our pile of writing opportunities to pick out one we think is particularly worth your time. It could be an innovative brief, great prize money, a high-profile company, or just plain fun.
This week’s pick: London Irish Green Curtain Theatre Company seeking short plays and monologues
Description: An innovative writing competition using contemporary Irish art to inspire writers has been launched by London Irish Green Curtain Theatre Company.
Entries are now invited for the Green Curtain Monologue/ Playlet Writing Competition. Entitled “Every Picture Tells a Story” writers are invited to create either short plays or monologues about life in the UK which are inspired by work from contemporary Irish artists
The contest is open to everyone who is Irish or part of the Irish Diaspora, no matter what age or level of education, who is resident in the UK.
What’s so great about it? This is a great opportunity for anybody of Irish decent to write a completely unique play and have it produced.
Your work will be celebrated among a supportive community, and if you’re an emerging write, this is a wonderful chance to establish yourself as well as writing something from the heart.
All pieces much take their inspiration from particular paintings, all of which can be found here, so if you’re struggling to come up with an idea, you’re starting point is sorted for you!
If this sounds like the opportunity for you, you have until 8 January 2017 to apply.
