Script Lab is officially open for applications! We’re looking for bold new writers to shape an idea for a short film into a ready-to-shoot script.
Script Lab is our annual programme for new writers which sees their idea develop into a short script that’s production ready. Writers work in groups, accompanied by a BFI Talent Executive and expert script editor, to take their project from idea to shooting script.
You’ll learn the fundamentals of screenwriting and develop your story in sessions with our BFI NETWORK Talent Executives and expert mentors. You’ll come out of Script Lab not only with a strong script and new skills, but a community of fellow writers.
No film background? No problem. If you write for theatre, poetry, prose, or any other creative form, Script Lab is your gateway into screen storytelling.
Please note: Script Lab is a development programme for early-stage short film script ideas – projects that already have a script are not eligible.
