Shrill Voices is a new residency programme for female writers which will take place at the Rosemary Branch Theatre.
“Women make up the majority of theatre audiences, but are still underrepresented as writers. We need more programmes and initiatives aimed at giving women the space they deserve to make their voices heard.” Anja Kulessa, Shrill Voices Coordinator
The Shrill Voices Residency is a brand new programme designed to kickstart fresh work by female writers.
As part of a two week programme, eight artists or companies will develop their work at the Rosemary Branch Theatre.
The residency provides:
- One week rehearsal space to workshop and develop your piece.
- An opportunity to meet and network with fellow artists in a collaborative space.
- 20 minute sharing of your work in front of an audience as part of two Shrill Voices nights.
- Support and mentoring throughout the process by Unattended Items.
They welcome applications from trans women, cisgender women, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who are significantly female-identified.
How to apply: submit your application, along with a short extract of your written work, via the online form.
Deadline: 13 January 2019 midnight
