HOW NOT TO DISAPPEAR
The Site – Royal Court Theatre – 30th September 10.30 – 1.30pm
An open space style event for playwrights who are parents or guardians. We will explore HOW NOT TO DISAPPEAR WHEN BRINGING UP CHILDREN.
Maybe that’s disappearing from the industry due to lack of time, headspace, or childcare. Maybe it’s a sense of your creative self disappearing now you’re responsible for a whole other human (or more.) Maybe it’s a sense of your identity disappearing, leaving you homesick for the You that you were before. Maybe you feel you disappear from your children when you go into work mode. Whatever it is, you’re not alone.
Led by Anna Jordan and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, together we will vent, share, be heard, swap ideas, and support each other.
This is a free event. It will be available to book at Midday on Friday 21st August 2026, tickets are quite limited so please get in quick once it’s live.
If your child is under the age of two and not in childcare, please feel free to bring them along – however, we are not able to provide childcare/a creche as part of this event. This will be a relaxed event, you can take breaks when you need, you will be welcome and supported.
If you have an older child, and not being able to bring them would be an issue, please email artistsforartists24@gmail.com and we will explore options.
Also – lots of people asking about this – please note that additionally to organising this event, in the background we will also be looking into :
a) How this event can be replicated around the UK.
b) How this event can be run online.
c) How our findings can be shared in a safe and fair way.
We look forward to seeing some of you there!
