Tabard Theatre seeking scripts for Playmaker’s Festival 2015

Playmakers Festival is looking for playwrights who would like to see their script performed at The Tabard Theatre in Chiswick as part of the theatre’s 30th Anniversary celebrations.

Eligibility:  Scripts can be submitted from anywhere across the UK, however, successful applicants will need to be in London for the duration of rehearsals and the performances, in the weeks before and during the week commencing 26th January, when the Playmakers Festival takes place. Each play will be given a two-night run.

Support with travel can be offered from IdeasTap for those members based outside of London on a case-by-case basis.

What to submit:  The Tabard is “looking for scripts that surprise us, by writers of any age. Whether it’s a political satire, a farce, or a kitchen sink drama, we’re looking for something that has a fresh perspective and the potential to be an exciting piece of theatre.”

To be eligible to enter scripts for consideration, the following criteria must be met:

  • Running time must be under one hour
  • Only one script can be submitted per applicant
  • Submissions can be brand new pieces of writing or existing material

The theatre will assist writers whose scripts are chosen, providing support in sourcing actors and directors if needed.  In this case, the writer will need to be available for at least five days prior to the performance in order to take part in rehearsals at the theatre with the cast and director provided. Writers are also welcome to work with their own actors and directors; in this case they will only need to be based at The Tabard for dress and tech rehearsals, as well as the two-night run itself.

How to apply:  Writers should download the application form from the IdeasTap brief.  Applications can then be submitted online, consisting of the application form and a 100 word statement about why you’d like to participate in this opportunity.

Deadline:  1 December 2014 at 5pm
