Tamasha Playwrights are seeking full-length script applications for the 4th year of their playwriting group.
The playwriting group is aimed at those who have already written a full play, and wish to work further on new ideas with a community of people dedicated to creating theatre. This group is not about generating new plays for Tamasha to commission and produce in the immediate future, but for each group member to write a full first draft of a new play for the stage.
The aim of the group is to equip writers with the skills to sustain a professional freelance career, including initiating, fundraising and managing their own projects. Generate seeds of inspiration for developing new ideas as well as group discussion and peer learning. Build relationships with writers who can collaborate with the company on TDA projects, including regionally, and responding to inspiration from young people and community groups.
Who’s it for? “Writers who have written at least one full length play for the stage, 70 mins+ (though it need not have been produced). Those who are interested in and inspired by the diversity of a globalised world and the multiple narratives of contemporary Britain and beyond. Those who have a genuine desire to further develop their skills and experience in a collaborative environment and to offer constructive peer support to one another. And those who have an interest in learning to self-produce and also learning to run playwriting workshops for young people on Tamasha’s behalf.”
You can read the full details here.
The groups playwriting sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings 6.30-8.30pm at Tamasha’s offices at Rich Mix in Shoreditch, East London. Sessions are from November 2017 – July 2018.
How to apply: To apply, please send your full-length script as well as a CV and cover letter to projects@tamasha.org.uk with the subject line ‘Tamasha Playwrights’. You can also find a equal opportunities monitoring form here.
