Tamasha Theatre – Made at Home: A Tamasha Virtual Scratch Call Out

Every year, Tamasha Theatre Company has been asking you to send them new short scripts, on any subject, with those selected few being scratched in front of a live audience. But a certain virus that shall not be named has pooped all over that, so Plan B: they’ve adapted and taken it all online.

As we’ve all spent a lot of time in our respective homes this year, Tamasha thought, why not get creative and set HOME as the theme. This doesn’t have to be too on-the-nose – they’re looking for a wide range of creative responses. So whether you’ve got a piece about what home has meant to you during the last few months, or if home is another country, a smell, a memory, a person – it’s completely up to you.

All genres are welcome.

The parameters:

  • Script extracts should be no more than 15 minutes in performance (roughly 10 pages)
  • Pieces must be for a maximum of four actors (doubling possible)
  • They’re looking for play ideas for which there is a good reason for Tamasha to produce now, in the UK
  • Scenes from longer scripts are welcome

Tamasha positively encourages artists from Black, Asian, MENA, and all ethnic minority backgrounds to apply.

As a touring company, they are also particularly keen in ideas set with universal, non-London centric themes.

Send your short piece to Samia@tamasha.org.uk by 6pm on Monday 17 August. Submissions sent beyond the deadline date will not be accepted.

The Virtual Scratch Night will take place on 21 September.
