The Berry Theatre is seeking applications for their Write Now programme. The programme aims to support the creative practice and strategic development of writers who work across all mediums of trans-media storytelling, who are keen to make a step change and progress their careers to the next stage, working with them to develop their ideas and the practice further.
They are keen to work with writers who are able to contribute to the daily life of their associate hubs and who are able to work in or around Eastleigh over a 12 month period.
They are looking for writers who:
- Can adapt to different methods of communication
- This can include Playwriting, Storytelling, Comic books, Digital & audio but this list is not exhaustive
- 2016 will see a specific focus on writing for and with primary school pupils to create a new stories for a library tour and for installation in various ‘listening seats’ in the theatre, libraries and schools
Associates will receive:
- Access to the Writing Room at The Point theatre for a year
- Access to Tec Hub digital media hub
- Mentors programme
- Business planning support
- Free access to workshops and events
- Participation in live projects
- Writing challenges
- Immersive retreats
- Networking opportunities
- Opportunities to work with actors and storytellers
- Be an integral part of our children’s writing and story telling festival in March 2017
- Opportunities to link with Eastleigh’s creative hubs – designer/makers at The Sorting Office, digital creators at Tec Hub, contemporary performers at The Point and other writers here at The Berry Theatre.
In return they will ask associates to:
- Become involved with our hubs and programmes
- Work with our Mentors to explore new work through a variety of channels
- Act as ambassadors of Creative Eastleigh and particularly The Berry Theatre
