Call out from The Equilibrium for a final short play for ‘Vintage Humans’, a scratch festival celebrating what we gain with age which will take place at Southwark Playhouse this May.
The event will feature a series of short plays from a wide age range of writers (20’s-80’s) and they are looking for a final piece from a writer in their 70’s.
Emerging doesn’t have to mean young – they welcome work from new writers in this age bracket.
The brief:
- The play should not have had a previous production.
- Must have a running time of 10-15 minutes
- be for 2 characters
- Have gender balanced casting
- Respond the Grayson Perry quote:
“Wear, damage, dirt, repair, corrosion and decay are part of the language of authenticity. We give things that look old the benefit of the doubt. Age lends authority to an object. And aged artefact inveigles its way into the grand events of history. My work often borrows the shabby familiar clothes of the antique so as to lend gravitas to what it has to say. The look of age is also an important component in what we find beautiful.” (Grayson Perry, The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsmen).
Your play should address how this applies to people. What does age and ageing mean to you?
How to apply: submissions and questions should be sent to info@theequilibrium.org
Deadline: 22 April 2016 at 5pm
