The Format
Performances are over three nights on one stage, at The Old Town Hall in Newmarket, Ontario Canada – Thurs. Sept. 7th, Fri. Sept. 8th, Sat. Sept. 9th, 2023.
A Theatre for Young Audience (TYA) play will be presented on Sun. Sept. 10th, 2023
at a 2 p.m. matinee performance.
Along with your script, your email submission should include the following information:
· Name of Playwright
· Title of the One Act Play
· Playwright’s contact information – Email address (and phone # if available)
· A brief (2-3 sentences) description of your play
· The number of actors and any casting requirements
· Solo Plays will be accepted
· Plays ought to be a minimum of 15 minutes and no more than 45 minutes in length
· List any props, set pieces or technical effects required that are specific to your play
· Indicate if your play has been published
· Include any royalty fees for one performance only – please note that The Newmarket
International Festival of One act Plays is produced by the Very Useful Theatre Company
a non-profit and charitable organization, so the waiver of royalty requirements is appreciated
· Only one script per playwright will be accepted
The festival is committed to presenting a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) one act play. This provides a wonderful opportunity for emerging young playwrights to have their TYA one act play presented to a paying audience. The Most Outstanding Play will be announced at the Festival.
