This position will oversee our Open Submissions programme and engage with emerging and established playwrights. The New Plays Associate will guide a team of freelance readers, collaborate across internal departments, and foster an inclusive, supportive environment for developing new plays and playwrights. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovative programming and contribute to the Royal Court’s commitment to new writing in theatre.
The successful candidate will be:
- Experienced in New Work Development: Have experience in a playwright and/or artist support role, including understanding of the sensitivities and needs of supporting and engaging with artists.
- Organised and Detail-Oriented: Possess exceptional organisational skills, enabling the efficient handling of administrative and management tasks with a keen eye for detail, particularly within a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
- Creatively Insightful and Analytical: Demonstrate excellent creative instincts and critical analysis skills to identify, evaluate, and support promising plays and playwrights, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- A Skilled Communicator and Collaborator: Exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse stakeholders, maintaining tact and confidentiality when required.
