The STARTS Award promotes new talent and creative wellbeing. It is a Spoken Word & Visual Art competition for promising performers and artists connected to the military – currently serving, ex-service personnel, or family members (18+).
They are looking for writer/performers who would like to win the opportunity to perform their writing on a professional stage.
Up to 5 winners will be selected from each category. The 5 winning entries from the Spoken Word category will be given the opportunity to perform onstage live at Matt & Phred’s, Manchester on 21st September 2023. Performances will be filmed and will feature online for 2 months following the live event.
To apply please send a video of you performing a piece of your writing. This can be either a monologue (in prose or verse) or short story. Submissions should be no more than 5 minutes when performed. Performance and written content will have equal importance for the judging panel.
