Two artists, one writer and one director, will be selected as Resident Artists for the 2019 instalment of the Tron Theatre in Glasgow’s mini-festival of provocative theatre, Mayfesto.
A successful Resident Writer applicant receives:
- a first draft commission of £4,000
- a two-week residency at the Tron Theatre led by the Mayfesto Resident Director, working with the writer and cast to develop the script
- two Draft performances of the Writer’s script as part of Mayfesto 2019
How it works: there will be two stages to the application process: you must first submit an unproduced play to be read anonymously by their panel of readers so they can get a sense of your writing.
Writers shortlisted through that process will then be invited to come to the Tron Theatre and pitch ideas for three new plays. One writer will then be offered the opportunity to develop one of their ideas as part of their commission and residency.
