Theatrefullstop accepting submissions for Pub Theatre Festival

Theatrefullstop will team with 3 pub theatres to present the 3rd Pub Theatre Festival set to be staged in April 2019.

The 2017 Festival witnessed 14 emerging theatre companies present their works at both the Lion and Unicorn Theatre and Etcetera Theatre over 2 weekends in April. The 2018 Festival witnessed 12 emerging theatre companies present their works at the Canal CafeBread and Roses and Rose & Crown Pub Theatres all to supportive audiences.

The aim is to encourage anyone (there is no age limit) considering creating a show to stage their works to a paying audience. The 2019 festival will take place over 3 weekends in April (Friday and Saturday) and will allow for groups with a maximum of 3 performers to showcase 30 minutes of work. A maximum of 20 acts will have the opportunity to showcase their work at one of the 3 venues.

Making your first steps into staging your own works can be a tough task. There’s plenty to think about as you’re not only creating and devising your own works, you’re having to bear in mind the marketing and financial aspects of a show. What the Pub Theatre Festival looks to do is to create a launchpad for the voices of tomorrow. Everyone has to start from somewhere, and with a little support, possibilities can be endless. All theatre companies receive the profit made from their shows minus booking/membership fees.

What to submit: in order for performers to be considered, you must submit a bio about yourself and your theatre company, a synopsis of your piece and any other supporting material (video clips/script/photos etc). You must have a finalised idea rather than just an idea you are currently working on. Please only submit up to 30 mins of work. If a script sent in is longer than 30 minutes, contains more than 3 characters, or is submitted after the deadline, it will not be read.

When submitting, please ensure that you’ll be free to perform in the month of April, as drop outs are unfair to other theatre companies.

How to apply: Submissions are to be made to Lucy Basaba at theatrefullstop@gmail.com.

Deadline:  1 December 2018
