Tron Theatre (Glasgow) accepting submissions for scratch night – Theme: SURVIVAL

An opportunity for playwrights to hear short extracts of their work directed and performed by professional actors, The Progressive Playwright is the Tron’s monthly scratch event, giving playwrights the chance to hear short extracts of their work directed and performed by professional actors in the Tron’s Changing House studio. Following the readings there will be feedback and discussion which can help the playwright progress to the next stage of their work.

The audience will vote for one script at the end of each Progressive Playwright event that they would like to hear more of. The successful writer will then have the opportunity to take on the feedback given, look at the strengths and weaknesses of their script, develop their piece further (up to a maximum of 20 pages including the initial first 10) and use the next event as a platform for hearing more of their developed piece.

Please note, each play only has the opportunity to progress to another one event. It is then up to the writer, if they want, to develop their script further, taking on the audience, actor and director feedback. This event is about the playwright learning more about their craft, hearing their work performed and encouraging them to work further on scripts that they want to develop.

Each scratch night has a different theme – please see below for up and coming deadlines and themes.

How to apply: before submitting your work, please read the Progressive Playwright Guidelines, Please include a Progressive Playwright Cover Sheet at the front of all submissions.
