Wexford Literary Festival launches inaugural one-act play competition (€300 prize, €10 entry fee)

Wexford Literary Festival is welcoming entries to its inaugural one-act play competition.

Playwrights are invited to submit plays of up to 15 minutes.

Four finalists will have their pieces performed by Enniscorthy Drama Group at this year’s festival, with a prize of €300 euro going to the overall winner.

What to submit:
  • The play should have minimal sound, tech, set requirements
  • The play should require no more than four actors
  • The play should not be an excerpt from a longer work
  • The script should not have been performed previously, or be scheduled for performance
  • The playwright’s name should not appear on the script
  • Each script should be numbered, with the title of the play at the top of each page
  • Scripts should be clearly formatted: 12pt, double-spaced, Times New Roman
  • Each play should have a running time of up to  15 minutes.
  •  No adaptations
  • Plays should be sent as doc (Word) or PDF
  • Each submission must be accompanied by a 10 euro entry fee paid via the online booking system below
