So, you’ve got an idea for a play but where do you go from here?
Perhaps you’ve never written a play before and despite having an idea you’re passionate about, you don’t know where to start? Or maybe you are an emerging writer who needs to kick-start their next play…
It can seem like a huge leap from the spark of an idea to having a concrete plan for writing your play. The mammoth task of fleshing out your idea, creating the characters to tell your story and developing a solid structure can take months and during the process, it’s easy to become disillusioned with your idea and to procrastinate when you reach a hurdle.
In this intensive workshop, Kimberley Andrews will help you to tackle the all of the planning in just one-day! Through group feedback and support, you’ll gain confidence in pitching your idea and will pick up the insights needed to allow you to tell the very best version of your story.
Through practical exercises and working within the limits of time, you’ll be able to develop your initial idea in to something more concrete and work dynamically to overcome the common stumbling blocks of writing your first draft. You’ll leave the workshop with a full scene by scene breakdown and all the motivation you need to get that play written!
Workshop breakdown:
- Pitching: developing your initial idea
- Characters: the vehicles for your story
- Dialogue: working out how your characters speak to each other
- Structure: building your act structure
- Scenes: mapping out the beats of your story
